Emma Nelson Wins All Three Division I Jumping Events By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Emma Nelson of Chugiak tied her own Alaska all-time high jump record with a clearance at 5-foot-9 at the Alaska state championships in Palmer. Nelson also cleared 5-9 in April at the Oregon Relays. Nelson, a senior who is headed to Oregon State, won DI titles in the high jump, long jump (17-5) and triple jump (37-9). She also took a leg on Chugiak’s second-place 4x200 relay. Camron Herron of West Valley repeated his DI boys 800 meters title, running a personal best 1:54.27. Colton Herman of East Anchorage won the DI boys sprints, taking the 100 in 11.20 and the 200 in 22.50. Olivia Davies of Wasilla swept the dashes on the girls side, running 13.00 and 25.99. Sophomore Kendall Kramer of West Valley ran to victories in the DI girls 1,600 meters (5:09.37) and 3,200 (10:44.73). Junior Daniel Bausch of Chugiak also swept the big-school distance titles, running 4:20.34 and 9:26.49, and he was also second in the 800 (1:56.74). Sophomore Chateau Reed of Lathrop swept the horizontal jumps for the boys, going 21-6.25 in the long jump at 45-9.25 in the triple jump. Sophomore Hailey Williams from Delta Junction was the standout of the Division II meet, cruising to victories in the 100 meters (12.38), 200 (25.11) and 400 (58.12). Senior Jacob Moos of Galena repeated his titles in the DII 1,600 meters (4:24.12) and the 3,200 (9:28.59).
